Facticles- Squanto (Tisquantum)

1. Born ca. 1585 Massachusetts(place of the great hills in Wampanoag)

2. Died Nov. 30, 1622

3. Believed to be buried in Chatham, Massachusetts

5. Native American of the Patuxet tribe

6. Kidnapped for the first time in 1605 near Maine by Captain George Weymouth of the Plymouth Company. He escaped and returned with to North American.

7. 1614 came back to North America with Capt. John Smith

8. Kidnapped a second time by “English explorer Thomas Hunt, who brought him to Spain where he was sold into slavery.” He was able to escape and return home in 1619.

9. Squanto’s entire Patuxet tribe died from smallpox. He went to live with the nearby Wampanoags.

10. In 1621, Squanto was introduced to the Pilgrims at Plymouth, and subsequently acted as an interpreter between Pilgrim representatives and Wampanoag Chief Massasoit.

11. Died in 1622 of an unknown fever
